It's a few years in the future, and California's inmate firefighter program is more important than ever as wildfares rage throughout the state.  Three inmates, Anthony, Ignacio, and Paul, decompress after a particularly dangerous assignment that almost cost Paul his life, only to have to turn around and get sent out again.  But Paul's left shaken by his ordeal, and he might not have it in him to risk his life anymore.  Originally presented by The Sixth Festival in Chicago in 2021, and New York City in 2022.

Five, Six, Seven, Eight

Ten-minute Zoom comedy/drama 1m 1w 1nb

Roxy LaRue would really rather be performing onstage, but there's a pandemic going on and so they're stuck teaching Zoom burlesque classes.  Maryanne hopes that taking a class with Roxy will be the thing to inject some life back into her marriage with Clyde.  But getting Clyde to loosen up won't be easy, and a little intimacy might not be enough to save their marriage after all.  Written for Chicago Dramatists' virtual 48 Hour New Play Festival, March 2021.

Safe Keeping

Best friends Leo and Charlotte leave wishes for the future hidden in the nooks of an old tree.  Presided over by a mysterious figure called The Steward, this tree has a particular kind of magic.  Years later Charlotte, now a successful author, and Leo, stuck working at his dad's auto shop, reunite to see if their wishes came true, reflecting on the directions their lives have taken away from each other.  Presented at Nothing Without a Company's New World Play Festival, August 2019.

Measure for Measure

Libby and Ryan are a pretty happy couple in a mutually supportive partnership.  But when Ryan decides he wants to measure his "manhood," their happy relationship is put to the test.  A comedy about male insecurity and the notions we have to give up to open ourselves up to someone.

The Community Garden

After the sudden death of her parents, Mary moves to her uncle Archie's once-regal house in a once-bustling neighborhood in Detroit.  She finds solace pulling weeds and planting flowers in a small neglected patch of land that once held a community garden on their property, connecting with Colin, the cousin she's never met before, along the way.  An adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden produced for Theatre Above the Law's 24 Hour Adaptation Festival, August 2018.

Umbrella Story

Damien has grown up infatuated with the story of how his parents met: on a rainy day, they shared an umbrella, and it was love at first sight. Or was it? Damien's quest to have his own "Umbrella Moment" causes him to reject plenty of women along the way to true love, until a chance meeting with Margaret at a fruit stand may give Damien the fateful meeting he's been waiting for. But expectations are never quite like reality.

The Matrimony Experiment

Paul and Vera are at the courthouse, waiting to get hitched. Only one problem: they've never met before. They've both signed on for a social experiment where strangers get married for a cash payout, and they're both just desperate enough to do it. But as they wait their turn, they get to know each other, and it gets harder to go through with their sham marriage.
